Lawsuit option for Pre 26 June 2010 Applicants

I have been saying this for a while now, that there are no options but to wait or re-apply for Pre June 2010 applicants. Most recent timelines suggest CIC takes more than 3 years to process the Pre June applications that were submitted as fast track applications under the 38 occupations list. Some of you have asked me about an appeal about the CIC processes etc., Few others have told me about their unfair rejections and application returns etc., Here is a link to one such lawsuit option for those of you to take it to the next level.

Here’s the link to a news article that I came across regarding this topic.

PS: Using this lawsuit option should be at the readers’ discretion. As usual, my suggestion is to re-apply for PR under the new streams for immigration.

The Trillium Drug Program for Ontario residents

Here is a very useful information about prescription drug costs coverage in Ontario. We all know that OHIP is the government health insurance and it covers our health costs. But it doesn’t cover certain things for example prescription drugs. Usually the ones that are not covered by OHIP are covered by private insurance provided by employers etc.,. For those of us with no access to that kind of private insurance, there is a program called The Trillium Drug Program (TDP).

Here’s the link to that information. Please share this with your friends in need.

Quick note to my readers!

Hi All!

Hope you are doing well.. I know it’s been a while since the last post, but I’m still committed to reply to every single query possible. I can understand your frustrations and anxiety during the long uncertain wait for visas and I try my best to make that process as smooth as possible.

As already indicated elsewhere, I’m not a professional immigration consultant. Nor do I charge people for my suggestions and views here. I receive tons of emails apart from these comments and queries everyday and I try my best to reply all of them. Sometimes there is a lag of a few days and yes I do ensure the delay isn’t more than a few days.

That being said, I notice that 70% of the queries are very similar asking when they would get medicals, visas or what is the next stage of the process. Well, I keep repeating the same answers again and again. For once,

It could take anywhere from 15 days to 6 months or even more to receive medicals after they start to process your file.

It could take anywhere from 15 days to 6 months or even more to receive stamped passports after they receive the medicals reports, RPRF fee, passports and ALL required documents.

It all depends on a number of factors known and unknown and there is no way we can predict timelines. We always go with the average timelines for a batch of applications.

Please note that I will not be answering queries with these 3 questions and I hope you understand.

I wish you all good luck for faster visas and a very good life ahead!

Fraudsters targeting Newcomers!

This is a message shared by one of our newcomer friends in Toronto. Unbelievable, but they are in fact targeting the most vulnerable Newcomers :(.

Dear All,

I would like to alert you all about a mafia committing fraud on unsuspecting new immigrant with a lure of work from home. My new immigrant friend has been cheated to a tune of 2800 CAD $.

The modus operandi is this.

Lure the new Immigrant with a life line that is a good job offer…

When new immigrants search for job and post their resume online the fraud mafia might contact you with a job offer of working from home , they would often assume identity of well-known professors in reputed university, theatre artist, musician , or even put some fake company names.

In most of the cases the fraud mafia would publish work from home jobs in CRAIGSList or in KIJIJI, if any of the new comer contact them for job they will offer them a job after some formal interview. Once the interview is done they would send you a cheque stating that its your salary for fifteen day in advance and also to send money to one of their company abroad ( most in Philippines or in Europe). The CHEQUE which they courier to you is FAKE but it looks so AUTHENTIC that even the bank is taken for a ride. The check would have an outstation address probably Montreal or from USA , in most of the cases Bank have cleared the amount and deposit to your account. As soon as you submit the cheque for clearing the fraudster would call you up and inform you to take the 15 days or a week’s salary in advance and transfer the rest of the money to an individual or company outside of Canada.

To make you believe the fraudster would set up an appointment with you and would say that he would be meeting you in person in three weeks’ time.

Once the FAKE cheque is returned without collection the BANK would start harassing you to give return the money they issued to your account and threaten legal action and even arrest for committing a fraud. Even though the bank has been negligent in issuing the money in advance the new immigrant would be afraid to stand against the volley of questions from the bank and would quietly pay it up or face legal action.

Hope this information helps and keep’s our family of new immigrants safe from these fraud mafia.
