    hi, Indira.
very helpful post, i am always reading your post, and it is priceless, what i want to know is that i am M D physician, and it is possible for me to participate in above mention program and get volunteer placement for us.
    thanks.

    1. Indira

Yes, for the regulated occupation folks, they will try and get some entry level job for us in that field, for example, for an Architect it could be something like an Autocad draftsman, project coordinator etc.,. Unsure of the doctors.. You cna contact them and see what they offer. The info is on the link in the post.

      Thanks,

      Indira Prabhakaran.

    Hello Indira,

I have bee followig your posts and have benefitted immensely from it. Thank you so much.

If it’s not too personal, would you kindly tell me if you have already got a job? If you have, then what job did you get and how?

    Thanks much

    1. Indira

      Hi Mona 🙂

Thanks for the compliments :). Yes I did get a job in my field within a month of arrival. I took help of the ‘Employment Ontario’ program mentioned in the blog, but before they could find something for me, I started applying online. And, I got a job :). The key is not to restrict yourself to one or 2 job search streams, just stretch the wings 🙂

    Hi Indra,

I have been following your blog right from the day one since I applied for fsw. Can you please tell me how abt the job market in ontario for network engineers and technical recruiters with 2 yrs of experience.

    1. Indira

      Hi Pavitra,

Thanks for following this blog :). I’m not sure of the particular professions here. I see so many job postings for IT pros recently among the thousands of other openings.

      Indira Prabhakaran.

Thanks for your prompt reply Indira.I have one more doubt.

Currently we are in uk,so our residential address is uk and we gave mailing address as Chennai. Is it necessary to inform NDVO about change in residential address since we recently moved to new house.

      1. Indira

Yes, very much you have to let them know of this change. If the indian communication address is still usable, indicate that while contacting them.

    Hi Indira

thanks for your reply, iam married .my wife and i applied for pr visa, now we having a new born baby with us we are planning to him along with us, i have 2 question here

    1) what are the documents required for him to get the visa,

    2) he is too young now just 3months iam expecting my visa max in June or before that by god grace ,is it possible to take him after 2years because here in chennai our parents will take care of him once we settle down there we can take him please guide me

    1. Indira

If you have not done yet, please contact the NDVO to add your kid to the existing application. They need to know this before they make a decision in your case.

ALL applicants included in the application MUST land before the visa expires. Doesn’t matter if they return to their country the day after landing. So may be the kid have to make a short landing trip and can be taken back to grand parents after that.

Your reply is here.. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp Yes, you have to include funds for ALL members(including the baby) as long as they are included in the applciation and received visa.

    Hi Indira,

Got my PR visa. Applied from India for many jobs through top employers in Canada related to my field. Im a Microbiologist. To tell you Ive not received a single reply. Bit frustrated. Wanting to drop the plan of ever settling in Canada.

Needed some suggestions from your side

    Ken

    1. Indira

Looks like you have not researched enough on immigration to Canada. Did someone promise you that having a Canadian PR and residing in India will automatically entitle you to nice jobs with top employers in Canada? May be your immigration consultant painted that rosy picture to trap you in!

The reality is ALL immigrants HAVE to come here and work hard, prepare and network for jobs. As with any country, people have to LOOK for jobs and sometimes it’s hard to get through the first shot. Yes thousands and thousands of immigrants have done it and are still doing it.

Sending emails from India is the least effective way of job search in Canada. I suggest you do a bit more research on this topic and prepare yourself for Canadian job market.

      Indira Prabhakaran.

    Dear Indira,
I am following your blog keenly since the past few months & I really appreciate your efforts of helping fellow immigrants:-)
I would like to introduce myself since we haven’t interacted before. I am an Architect from Mumbai. We (my husband & I) recently got our PR visas in Feb & are planning to come to Toronto (preferably) in late May 2012.

Since your husband is an Architect (correct me if I am wrong- I had read in one of your posts on http://www.canadavisa.com), I would like your/his guidance regarding the Architectural credential assessment, job market, housing etc.
Currently I am gathering all the documents that are required for getting my credentials assessed. I am in two minds whether to do it while in India itself or should I do it after coming there.
I believe your husband too must have gone through the same process, can you tell me the result of his assessment, whether he was told to do his masters or do bridge courses. Since the architectural syllabus would be common for all the bachelor’s degree in India, I will have a fair idea of how much funds I will have to keep aside for my courses accordingly

Your guidance & experience will really help me to be prepared well in advance before coming there
I will look forward to hearing from you soon:-)

    1. Indira

I have emailed you the details.

    Hi Indira,

I intend do the landing in April end. My wife and kid are not accompanying me due to personal reason

    As regards the B4 forms,

1)The pic of the jewellry has to be taken. Do I need to take the pics of jewellry Im wearing in person i.e chain and ring? How many copies are needed.

    2) For my unaccompanying wife do I need to declare her jewellry at my first arrival itself and enter in the Goods to follow list or when they make their first arrival in Canada.

Bit confused. Could you kindly give in incite into this

    Ken

    1. Indira

      Hi Ken,

Take pictures of ALL jewellery and yes, include the entire family for this purpose. PA has to declare everything and get it stamped on landing, even if the dependants are not accompanying. Other details on the landing prep posts.

      Indira Prabhakaran.

    Hi,

I’m from Hyd and have recently landed to become a PR, being an IT professional and working for a large MNC in India I have not yet quit my job and have returned back to continue with work. But while I was in Toronto I got this acceptance into a 6 week full time bridging program about which you have mentioned in your blog. i have deferred it to attend by the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year.

My question is how promising are these bridging programs when it comes to the placement, the one I got acceptance into looks really great and is sponsored by ICTC Canada’s Information and communication tech council. Would like to know your opinion about the picture after attending this program?

    Wainting for your valuable inputs.
